punjas donate $125,000 worth of food rations
The destruction caused due to Cyclone Winston finds many Fijians in need of urgent assistance - ranging from desperate situations involving the total loss of homes, clothing and possessions to the loss of food crops.
It is a time for all Fijians to step up, extend their arms and compassion to those in need, and to help in whatever way you can. It will all make a difference.
It is with this community spirit in mind that Punjas have packed 5000 food ration parcels containing basic food items such as Rice, Flour, Biscuits, Milk, Split Peas, Tea and Salt valued at $125,000 and donated them to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
The handover of the 5000 food parcels took place at Punjas Biscuit Factory today in the presence of Mr. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum Fijian Attorney-General and the Minister for Finance, Public Enterprises, Public Service and Communications and Mrs. Rosy Sofia Akbar, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
We urge every Fijian who can to do what they can to help their fellow Fijians in this time of need so we can all rebuild our lives and living standards back to where they belong.
