Punjas have always been committed to serving all of the people of Fiji – Our collective efforts have always been focused on giving people better product alternatives and reaching out to help communities when required. In our 80th year, we are doubling our efforts to support initiatives that help reinforce our company's principles and philosophy of giving back to the people that have supported us over the past eight decades.
From the humble beginnings of our founder, Mr Punja Kara in a single store in Cuvu Sigatoka in 1935, and for the past 80 years, Punjas have invested heavily in the latest technology to enable us to deliver the very best quality products to our customers. The family-run business has now grown to be one of the Pacific’s largest privately owned companies, employing over 1,000 people, with our corporate headquarters in Lautoka, Fiji. Punja Kara’s founding principles of honesty, quality and customer satisfaction remain to this day.
Investing in Business
In more recent times we have looked beyond our shores and exported those principles, along with our product portfolio, for the benefit of the greater South Pacific region - You will find us in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon's, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati and New Zealand investing in those markets for the benefit of Fiji.
And we believe continued investment in Fiji will bring with it a positive side effect for everybody – employment. Both short and long term jobs. Allowing people to remain close to their families and friends where they belong and where they are needed to help continue building the economy at a local level.
Throughout 2015, as we celebrate our eighty years of sharing with the families of Fiji, we will be marking this milestone by giving back to the community in many different ways through projects and events that promote healthy living choices.
The projects we have supported over the past year have included the refurbishment of the Lautoka Children's Park, the commissioning of a new health centre and most recently the sponsorship of the Fiji Netball Series as appreciation of the support of the women of Fiji have given us over the years.
We appreciate the support that the people of Fiji have always given our company and we will continue to invest in the regions, at national and international levels, for the benefit of all stakeholders - be they the business community, the families and customers we rely on to purchase our goods, and especially the children who are everyone’s future.
Thank you Fiji for a wonderful 80 years.
